Pre-start Contract Meeting

Once the contractor has been appointed, but before work commences on site, a pre-start contract meeting takes place.  This meeting is vital to the smooth running of the project and is an important opportunity to:

  • Meet the team working on the project and issue contact details
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities and lines of communication
  • Agree follow on meetings and attendees
  • Exchange documents such as insurance certificates and issue outstanding information (which may include variations)
  • Agree site access, site induction procedures and health and safety issues
  • Discuss the project and any issues relating to it
  • Agree contract matters

An effective pre-start meeting is beneficial to contractors, clients, architects and project managers and can prevent any miscommunication, ensure all parties have approved the works and minimise delays.
